You probably come out ahead by getting combined with DC. The option would likely be getting dropped into the Mid-Atlantic Board. Even Philadelphia doesn't rate its own Board so I doubt Charm City would.
I enjoy the Baltimore postings and stuff about the things between our cities. It also encourages information about Annapolis and the Eastern Shore where many of us spend weekends and that would get lost in the Mid-Atlantic postings.
For those of us who live in DC, we can get to Baltimore more easily that we can to many of the Virginia suburbs that require cars. It's closer and we don't get stuck in traffic. There's good train transportation from Union Station via MARC that lets tourist enjoy your city.
This is a win-win I think. -
Looking at other postings on Site Talk there are many boards that need to be seperated, Baltimore/DC is not one of them. 40 miles is nothing when it comes to getting a great meal. My parents in NoVa frequently drive up to Bmore just for dinner and reading the board it appears that they are not the only ones willing to drive. Increasingly more people are moving to Bmore and commuting down to DC. It's quite possible that people are eating half their meals in one city and the other half in the other. Like it was mentioned already the central Maryland area would just cause confusion for people. Look at the confusion that NJ causes on the TriState and MidAtlantic board.

I live in Baltimore but I do like reading about places in DC. Plus places like Columbia or Laurel or something which are discussed on the boards fall in the middle and I regularly eat in that central Maryland area.

re: salad man
Yes, but where to go for the information, if two boards cover the same locale? Either that, or one board has to look up nearby restaurants on another board.
The Balkanization of the International Board is already troublesome enough. having to visit more boards for the same info just takes more time.
