Union Square recommendations?

This Saturday night, I'll be staying in the Union Square area of San Francisco. I'm looking for a dinner spot for 3 people within walking distance that's excellent and fun but not too formal (eg not the night for the Ritz, Minna or Campton Place).

Any chowhound recommendations?

I'd go to Scala's.

I've been very happy with Bar Crudo on Bush. E&O Trading Company is good for a fancy drink. Scala's puts out a good meal. Belden Lane can be hit or miss, but usually worth a shot.

Scala's on Powell is trendy, fun but expensive. Daily Grill on Geary is informal . If you want to walk down to Plouf, very French and fun.
