And Montarmare is with in walking distance (although a bit farther)...I've never been here but I hear it's very good french food. If you are looking for something more casual you can eat at Hawk and Dove. And in Eastern Market there are a bunch of restaurants---I would recommend Old Siam for thai food. On the Senate side of the Capitol there is a good German food restaurant which I can remember the name of right now but its something obvious..its on Mass Ave and does traditional schnitzel etc well. Even if you are just going to get wine and small plates/ appetizers its worth it. We tried lots of things but the sure standout in my mind is the cheese sampler. In the end we ALL sampled it. I had fiddleheads for the first time and my husband had a whole fish that he loved. All in all we had a party of 7 and were at a large rectangular table. Our only (60ish) complaint was that our backs got tired by the end of the evening with our backless seating. I'd gladly go back.
