Casa Mono was too hot and loud tonight
Ate at Casa Mono tonight for the third time; I've always enjoyed it in the past but tonight I was seated at the counter and the combination of way too loud and unpleasant music, heat and frenetic atmosphere was just too much. This is the kind of place to go to if you enjoy eating in extreme discomfort, like to yell to be heard, have your food thrown at you rapid fire and sweat buckets while you're eating.
The food was good for the most part, though the setas were a tad bitter tasting (happens sometimes with mushrooms cooked a la plancha). We also had piquillo peppers stuffed with oxtails and those were a little dried out. Calamari fritti were excellent. Artichokes with mint were good. Sweetbreads were also excellent. Wine list is really comprehensive but on the high side. Despite generally high quality of food, we couldn't wait to get out. I'll think twice before I go back.
