I had wanted to go to The French Laundry ever since I heard about it a decade ago. Finally got the chance this March and was incredibly disappointed. The food was at best average and the service was good, but not as good as other places of this caliber I have been too. There was just nothing about the meal that was that impressive. Just wondering if anyone else had similar experiences and any thoughts on to what happened to this place. Perhaps having Per Se as well has spread Thomas Keller too thin? Just wanted to see if anyone else had the same experience I did. I just was expecting the best meal of my life and I've had so many better ones: The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead and Bacchanalia in Atlanta, and Cyrus in Healdsburg.

I had a similar experience, albeit 4 years ago. Also in March -- maybe not the best time of year to give the place a try? Except for one dish, we'd had better versions of each course at other restaurants. And while the service was good, I felt like I was imposing upon them. I've had much more gracious service at other places. (5th floor comes to mind as just beautifully orchestrated service and food, Myth, One Market were gracious).
