Is this place worth the hype? I have one friend who liked it and one who was disappointed.

Not sure what the hype is exactly because despite the value, food and atmosphere it manages to remain under the radar. It is certainly an aquired taste but the food can be excellent & cheap. The bar is great, the waitresses and bartenders are refreshingly sassy and match the decor of the place quite well. Quesadillas and grilled cheese are consistently good. Menu changes every 6 weeks.

i was thinking the same thing: "what hype?" it's one of the few cheap places in the south end to eat. food is basic. lots of industry people head there late night.

I was refering to "under-the-radar," local neighborhood foodie hype, not "mainstream" dining hype.

This is a fine neighborhood place, cool atmosphere, pretty cheap, decent drinks. It's often cramped, hard to get a table or barstool, and I have found the food to be up and down over the years. It was pretty decent last time I ate there a few months back.

Good for after-work drinks if you can get there by 6, before it's too jammed. It's one of those places where, once the bar stools are filled, there's no place to stand.

Possibly the cheapest place to drink in the South End or Back Bay - I swear nothing costs over $4.
