We're craving great apple pie like our mother's made. Apples piled high, great crust. Where can we find it in the city of Los Angeles?

Thank you.

  1. I haven't had a great apple pie in a restaurant. I know that people love the Apple Pan and Pie n Burger but I prefer an apple tarte tatin from the likes of Cafe Bizou.

    1. I saw an appie pie like the one you described at Susina's last Sunday, but I got a piece of cake instead. I'm sure their pie is good though! May want to call first to make sure they have it that day.

      1. This has come up before.

Tha apple Pan Apple Pie is nothing to write home about. Thier banana cream, howeve, is amazing.

People Say Pie N Burger has good pie.

The apple pie you can get at Costco is good

Frankly, my fave used to be at Mel's, of all places. now they've changed it, I'm at a loss!

4 and 20 has good on van Nuys. one on Laurel Canyon.

I like the tatre tatin at Little Next Door.

Yes, this has come up before. I'm sure if you go back into the archives, you will find a zillion posts looking for great apple pie. Like I said, I haven't had a great apple pie in a restaurant either. I'm only offering up what I've heard. Do YOU have a great place for apple pie?

        2. I have to post this for you, since I saw the largest apple pie on Food TV last Friday. This seriously had me in awe. Please look at the photo in the link below. The pie must be a foot tall, and it's called Paula Deen's Savannah High Apple Pie. My friend thought it looked disgusting, but then after they cut it open, we were both craving pie!

As to where to get a really good slice of apple pie, I do not know. Is the one at Pie N Burger in Pasadena any good? I had a slice of their fresh strawberry pie. It was huge and pretty good.

I've had several of their pies over the years and do not remember if I ever had apple. I do know that I'm not impressed with their crust which is a must. It just wasn't that memorable for me and I do like Pie n Burger for breakfast and my husband likes their tuna sandwiches and their hamburgers.

          2. Honestly, one of the best I've had in the city was from Costco... Make of that what you will.
