Sorry...my computer is playing tricks again. On a recent trip to Charleston, we stopped for a quick bite at Hardee's on Reidville Rd. in Spartanburg, knowing the Beacon was closed on Sunday. We chose Hardee's, since we no longer have them in our city. The thickburger was really quite good. It was cooked to order, very hot and not overdone. Very flavorful. We avoid chains like the plague, but only wanting to stop for a short time, this was a good choice. I shuddered as I read the calorie count (850), but it was almost worth it.

While the calorie count on a Thickburger (or a 6 dollar burger, as they're known out here in an LA Carl's Jr) is high, it isn't as bad as the restaurant burgers they mimic. Burgers at places like Chili's, Red Robin's, and the like often shoot over 1000 calories...and that's before you eat the fries.

I've tried the regular and bacon western versions, and while they're tasty, I actually think they're TOO big. On those occasions when I eat fast food, I'm usually in it as much for the fries as I am for the burger. Getting a combo with that burger is just way too much food.
