Which would you pick?

After hearing some bad feedback about Suenos on this board, I wanted to ask for suggestions for another Mexican place. I've thought of Mercadito, Hell's Kitchen, and Rocking Horse. For some reason, the idea of Rosa Mexicano bothers me but I'm not sure why and I probably shouldn't prejudge since I've never been. Just seems "coporate" in an odd way but if you guys think it's great, I'll give it a shot.

What do you guys think?

I actually liked Sueños, but I have only been 1x and it was 2 years ago. Don't waste your time on Rosa Mexicana - they are a joke and the food is blah. I liked La Esquina a lot, but I am from California so I have different expectations for quality Mexican food. You can only find it in NY if you make it yourself!

I really like Hells Kitchen too, been there more than half a dozen times, but if you want great ceviches and such Mercadito is the way to go, Hell's Kitchen's strengths are a bit heavier, venison tostadas and such.

I haven't been to Rosa Mexicano for a while, but I think it's overpriced for what it is. Rocking Horse is pretty solid, but it's not authentic, if that's what you're looking for. Bright Food Shop is another option in Chelsea. I'm not crazy about La Palapa--I've been a few times b/c food is decent, but that's about it. I haven't been to the others.

Mercadito's margaritas are indeed expensive, but some of the best I've had. The outdoor seating is better than Rocking Horse's as well.

I like Mercadito. La Palapa is pretty good as well.

Mercadito is pretty good. I like the guacamole sampler and the steak tacos. Their margaritas are expensive but killer. Plus, you can sit outside which is nice.

Some other hounders like Hell's Kitchen, but we haven't had good meals there, nor have we had good service experiences. I'd vote Mercadito.

I really like Hell's Kitchen - I've only eaten there once, but had consistently good take-out over 20 times....
