Where can I find Prosecco?

ceejoi May 24, 2007 01:13 PM

I checked at my local supermarkets and the workers don't even know what prosecco is. So I went down to Bevmo and the worker there didn't have any clue as to what prosecco is. He said they didn't have any after checking the computer and checking the back of the store. So where can I find some prosecco? Also, I wasn't even sure if this stuff is sold at specialty stores.
Thanks!

Not at all!! How bizzare Bevmo didn't have it... Their website lists several...

Anyway, I have an emergency bottle for Belinnis I got from Trader Joes for super cheap...

Do you mean L.A. Wine Co.? ;-) http://lawineco.com/

Also, K&L has quite a few types of prosecco on hand.

            thanks guys!
the fact that three different people didn't know what i was talking about began to scare me because i've never bought it before. and i'm most surprised that the guy at bevmo had no clue either!
i'll be making a belini bar for my BF's graduation lunch.
            thanks again!

while you are out buying prosecco, pick up a bottle of moscato d'asti as well.

Yes, do pick up a bottle of Moscato d'Asti, if you don't mind it sweet. It is DELICIOSO.

guys at bevmo generally have no clue - that is why I don't even go there. Their prices are not competitive, and the breadth of product is woeful!
shop the smaller wine shops and you will get a much better enjoyment level.
the chains just do not deliver the goods, be it TJs, Cost Plus, or Bevmo.

I like the prosecos I have tried at Silverlake Wine. And they are always so nice and friendly. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely pop by. They may not have the most selection, but what they have will be good.

I've found it at Trader Joes in South Pas and the BevMo in Pasadena. They had about 3 or 4 types at BevMo

Nino Franco is a GREAT Prosecco.. Dry, crisp, and a hint of all the flavors it should be. I had bought 2 cases a year or so ago when they were changing distributors. I purchased 1 case from The Wine House on Cotner in WLA and the other from LA Wine Company in MDR. I think the bottle cost was around $7.00. Good luck and for sure bothe these spots will have a Prosecco for you. Enjoy!!

Places I've seen it: Surfas, Wine House, Trader Joe's (Culver City), Whole Foods (West LA and also Third St.) and the Bevmo on Santa Monica near Target. Oh, and Bottle Rock. These are also the only places I've looked for it. I have a feeling the Bevmo person you were talking to put it in the computer wrong. Just tell them it's an Italian sparkling wine, they may be able to find it. I love Prosecco, it's one of my favorite before dinner drinks.

Have you gotten your bottle of prosecco? It's pretty much everywhere, including Bevmo, except maybe not at supermarkets, although I haven't looked at the wines at my local Pavilions in a long time.
