Where would I go for a hot pot in Manhattan?

The kind where you order different meats and then boil them in a pot the center of the table. At the end you drink the soup. Either Mongolian or Szechuan would be fine.

Lan serves very good sukiyaki (on 3rd avenue between 9th and 10th street)...is that what you're talking about?

There are a couple of places on 32nd Street between Madison Avenue and 6th Avenue among the Korean restaurants, plus a couple of places down in Chinatown.

you can usually order a hotpot at the Grand Sichuan in Chinatown, just beyond Bowery and Canal Street. Not sure if there are any of the individual shabu-shabu type places popular in Flushing such as Minni's in Manhattan's Chinatown. And of course there is Shabu-Tatsu, which is the japanese version, in the EV.

The Wu Liang Ye on Lex and 39th (? - not sure I've gotten the cross street correct) has it, but I think it might be a seasonal winter thing, so I'd give them a call before going there. FWIW, twice it was amazing and once it was a little disappointing. My preference there? Skip the lunch meat but order the squid balls!
