Unique reasonable eats in North Jersey

Visiting relatives for a week. Unique places that are worth a visit that show the character of NJ?? Will be wandering around the many small towns, so willing to drive in most any direction - - starting in Paterson area. Most threads focus on best meals - - we want good food, but "local flavor" is most important. Thanks.

I thought of some more. Check out the Ironbound section of Newark for Spanish/Portgueses food, and Fort Lee for many Korean restaurants.

Try BHOJ in Elmwood Park for terrific Indian food. Or LaCampagnia in Fair Lawn for excellen Italian food. You won't be disappointed.

Patsy's in Paterson has been serving thin crust pizza and Italian American food for generations. great local flavor, that's for sure.

take the turnpike south to exit 8a. give fiddlehead's restaurant in jamesburg a shot. focus is on game, local stuff. bring your own wine.
