We will be staying at a Horicon bed & breakfast this Memorial Day weekend. I would be grateful for any suggestions where to eat in the area. We like cafes & supper clubs and would like to avoid chain restaurants. Thanks!

Wow, I was searching in vain for anything to mention Mayville or Horicon, and this single post was what I found. Eek.

Ok, for Horicon I don't have a ready suggestion, but in Mayville there is an Irish cafe that has been in business for 3 years and somehow they're just hanging in there, despite having 1) great food, 2) good prices, and 3) no one in town that seems to want to eat there.

I mean a great meal of lamb stew with homemade beer bread is $8 - more than you'll pay for a fast food meal, and that seems to be a huge problem in this town of 4500. The owner is a wonderful lady and everytime I visit I try to eat there at least once to make sure she is still around.

Check them out and enjoy the experience!
