Need to find Central Florida source for goat meat, please

Bob Mervine May 23, 2007 05:09 AM

Looking for an Orlando source for fresh goat meat.

Used to buy it in Leesburg at a big meat-only butcher and at a small grocery in Poinciana that served Island people.

Anyone know of something in Orlando? Neighborhood grocery, perhaps.

        Hey Bob,

There is a Jamican grocery store about one block east on 50 off of Kirkman rd that sells Fresh Goat Meat, I have purchased it there several times.
        Hope this helps

That's the day Cameron is supposed to "unveil" the plan. Contact me offline at BMervine@aol.com.

Have you tried this place on Dean Road?

Is goat too exotic for Petty's? I never asked; I guess that doesn't quite fit their clientele, but that doesn't mean they don't know where to get it.

Bob, would DeLoach's grocery store on 17-92 (between Casselberry and Longwood) have goat? I keep meaning to check that place out -- seems like they'd have an in-house butcher shop. There's also a halal market I remember seeing in Longwood (on 434, near a great Indian market and the Acme Superstore comic and toy shop), so I wonder if they'd have it. I can check next time I go by, but I don't remember the name of the place.

Bob, I drove by looking for that halal market, but did not see it. Either it went out of business or I imagined the whole thing, but there was a small kosher market (Kosher Katz) and a Indo-Pakistani market in the same horseshoe-shaped minimall on 434.
