Wondering where are the best eats, drinks as well as prices at a Boston area bar or restuarant during "Happy Hour"?

Happy Hour in the sense of discounted alcoholic drinks is illegal in Mass, has been for many years. There are a number of places that try to bring business in with discounted snacks. A couple I can think of are Masa, with its dollar tapas in the bar, and McCormick & Schmick, with its weeknight $1-3 apps, including raw oysters.

You can also get the sampler - one of each of the ten different tapas - for $5...$.50 per tapa.

Unfortunately, there aren't too many places in Boston with Happy Hour discounts. 28 Degrees in the South End has $1 oysters from 5-7 M-F, Grendel's den in Harvard square offers their entire menu at half off during certain hours, but their food leaves much to be desired. I'd say your best bet is probably McCormick and Schmicks as mentioned-not a bad burger and fries for 2.95 and several other decent pub food offerings.

28 Degrees use to do their $1 oysters seven days a week, have they changed that?

28 degrees is closed on Mondays but they offer the $1 Island Creek oysters every other evening of the week from 5-7 PM.

As others have noted happy hour drink specials are a no-no around here. :( There are some good happy hour food deals though.

Noir, in Harvard Sq. at the Charles Hotel, they do something called "5,4,3,2,1" on weekdays. Menu items are priced $5, $4, $3, etc. I've been impressed with the flat breads, salads, and sandwiches. They are not skimpy and are really fresh and good.

During happy hour at Grendel's Den in Harvard Sq. all menu items are 1/2 off.

Bukowski's in Inman Square do a $2 burger special until 8 p.m. on weekdays.

I have some written down at home, there are a fair amount. All food deals of course. Morton's has one from 5-6:30 and 9:30-11 (I think) with $4 apps. Living Room has deals as does Daisy Buchanon's. I know people will immediately rag on that but I'm gonna check out their cheap burgers at some point (I think they're $2). Great Bay was having some sort of raw bar deal from 5-6 a while ago. Blu had their $5 apps/$9 martinis that was pretty good. Excelsior had $5 or $7 deals until 7PM. Brasserie Jo has something going on Fridays from 5PM til the end of the nite. That's all I can remember now.

Just a warning--the moderators are going to tell you that this has nothing to do with this website and are going to delete your post. It happened to me when I asked where a good place to get drinks and appetizers outside is... On another note, when you say Boston area, do you mean downtown or more towards Cambridge/Brookline, etc...

Happy Hours in Massachusetts have been illegal for over 20 years.
