Dinner for 15 - Near Santa Monica

Help--I've been charged with finding a dinner restaurant for 15 hungry Texans staying at the Century Plaza Hyatt for a cancer leadership meeting in June . The group has a mix of budgets--but all of them love good food. Any suggestions for a wonderful LA food experience--laid back not too formal?

  1. Try Fritto Misto in Santa Monica. It's an Italian restaurant, very casual, and great food. Fritto Misto is located on 6th and Colorado.

This is a good idea since it's tasty, huge portions at affordable prices.

    2. Pastina Trattoria on Westwood Bl near Olympic. Close by with relaxing casual atmosphere along with above average food.

      1. Maybe 26 Beach in Venice. Huge menu + huge portions = satisfied Texans

The Ivy at the Shore is also great, and has similarly large portions, though it's on the more expensive side. People will probably post "yuck" replies to this, but I really love The Ivy.

No yucks here - I also love Ivy at the Shore - but it's really expensive and therefore probably not doable for a group with a "mix of budgets." 26 Beach and Fritto Misto are both good reasonably priced suggestions. or maybe Musha or Typhoon, both in Santa Monica?

imho, typhoon is also an expensive restaurant.
you'd have to figure about $30/pp for food alone.
by the time you actually got out of there, i'd estimate that you'd be looking at $45/pp or so.. . .

True. Expensive is relative - Ivy's probably twice that, 26 Beach and Fritto Misto more like $15 - 20pp food only.

yeah, see if one of those texans can finish the party of 5 hamburger! I have not been in a couple of weeks, maybe saturday for some french toast, hummmmmm, who is joining me?

          3. Second Fritto and 26 Beach. Also perhaps Lilly's French Cafe or Primitive for tapas (that is very budget friendly due to share potential). i Cugini, Locanda del Lago, Ocean Avenue Seafood, Nook, Violet, and Beechwood are all worth considering as well.

Nook is awesome but I think a table for 15 would be extremely difficult to do there (plus I don't even think they take reservations for parties that large).

As mentioned before, I think Fritto Misto would be a good bet given your conditions.

            2. Fritto Misto (601 Colorado Ave., Santa Monica) is a great option because the food is very good and is reasonably priced. The location is a plus as your group can walk to the pier or to the 3rd Street Promenade.

Another good option is The Galley (2442 Main Street, Santa Monica). See The Galley's dinner menu here (
