I'm interested in stretching my own mozzarella. I did see a rather old post on here regarding some places in Brooklyn that make fresh mozz, and I am aware of several local places to buy ultra fresh mozz, however I really am intersted in making my own, so I thought I'd start a new thread regarding it. Does anyone know of a supplier of fresh curd in any of the 5 boroughs? I am in Manhattan, but would make a day trip of it if the price was right. Thanks much!

Somehow I knew the subject would arise one day. Rosario's sells fresh curd for mozzarella at an unbelievable $3.49/lb. Some guy recently purchased four pounds of curd because his grandmother uses it to make her spanakopita (spinach pie). I thought that was pretty interesting especially since most people use feta.

So, are you up for the trip to Queens?
