Have you purchased natural, additive-free pork or other meats from a retailer or farmer in the Seattle area? If you have please tell me their name. Thanks.

The people who produce Samish Bay Cheese are now selling meat at the U District farmers market. So far I've only tried their breakfast sausage (they were out of other things I wanted) and it was really good.

I think all of the farmer's markets have one or two natural meat sellers-I've bought from Thundering Hooves and another whose name I forget. Most better quality groceries will have it-PCC and Whole Foods definitely will, but it seems like this is standard at even some groceries that aren't focused on natural foods (like little Ken's Market on Greenwood Ave).

I think you'll do best at any of the local farmers' markets. We did a pork butt comparison of the two vendors we have at the West Seattle Farmers' Market: Samish Bay (mentioned earlier) http://www.samishbaycheese.com/ and Skagit http://skagitriverranch.dyndns.org/organic.htm. We made two different carnitas recipes. The Samish Bay won hands down, but we think that is the recipe, not that the meat is inherently superior. The prices were similar, though I think Samish Bay was a bit more expensive. We'd buy from both again.

One more thing: you'll find a lot of information about the natural meats produced in Washington State (and many other states, in fact) if you look around on the Eat Wild site: http://www.eatwild.com/products/washington.html

Pork Butt was what I was trying to buy from Samish Bay the day they were out. The guy at the stand told me that if I ever needed something specific, I could contact them before and they would be sure to bring it for me. Very nice.

If you're willing to drive, The Meat Shop of Tacoma (http://www.meatshopoftacoma.com/) is an excellent all-organic butcher. However, it's definitely a drive from Seattle.
