Greenville, SC: Indian?

Much as I love the climate, the choices for Indian food that I've found - one! - has been disappointing. I tried India Palace on Pleasantburg when we first moved here and have not been back since.

Anyone have any recommendations for Indian food in Greenville? My husband doesn't prefer Indian so I won't drive further afield unless the review is outstanding...

Thank you!

Run, run, run to Saffron on Woodruff!

It's only been open a little over a month, but if there were kinks, they have been worked out. I can't remember the website for my life - but the address is: 1178 Woodruff Road, phone: 288-7400

It is head and shoulders above India Palace. Huge menu and they now have wine. They do a lunch buffet for $8.95 that is a well-rounded selection. I've ordered off of the dinner menu a handful of times already and have not been disappointed with any of my choices (from soups, to appetizers, to chicken, to vegetarian, to breads). Service is really good too.

I know almost nothing about Indian, but some people swear by a place called Swad that is across Laurens Rd. from India Palace. I think it's entirely veg. I went once...didn't really get it, but like I said, know nothing about Indian. This has been YEARS ago, better check to see if it's still around before you head over there.

There's an Indian place in Asheville called Mela that gets fair to good reviews. I had an interesting Indian plate as Laughing Seed(veg.) in Asheville last week. Sorry no more help.
