Good German Brew

My boyfriend and I are going to be in Manhattan this weekend (but staying in Hoboken). Can anyone recommend a good brewhaus? My boyfriend read last weekend's NYTimes article on Germany, and it stirred all sorts of longings for dunkle beer :)

For midtown/west side there's Hallo Berlin - also with backyard garden and some tasty brats! - 44th/10th ave.

Cafe d'Alsace has a good list too, if you find yourselves on the Upper East Side.

You can check out Lorelei, Zum Schneider, or (my personal favorite) Lederhosen. Lederhosen also has good not too expensive German food. Zum's has good wings but no German food (that I know of at least)...

I agree with the above 3 places- love them all! All three also have food. Zum Schneider is where I eat at the most. Their potato pancakes are great and their sausage platter has always been excellent. FYI both Zum Schneider and Loreley have outdoor seating

Definitely Loreley. They have an outdoor patio but it is completely covered by a tent. You get the nice weather but no direct sun. They also have about 10-12 beers on tap and more in bottles. Also, the best soft bretzels in the city.
