Jackson Heights - Any ethnicity

I'm taking a friend for a culinary walk-through of the 74th St. area. Any recent suggestions on can't-miss hole-in-the-wall places? Anything on the opposite end of Jackson Diner ambience would be appreciated. Any cuisine as long as it's "authentic".

Thanks in advance.

  1. Zabb for Issaan. Order from the extensive "spicy salads" section of the menu, the crazier it sounds, the better. Look your server in the eye with an expression that says you have a death wish, and say you want it Thai spicy. Curries are not the specialty of that part of Thailand. Get those elsewhere.

On the same block, the Burmese Cafe. Everything we tried from the Burmese section of the menu was great, but do not miss that tea-leaf salad.
