Village Tandoor on Reseda and Devonshire is pretty good, but I've only been to one other place for indian food, so my experience is limited.

Punjab Palace in Northridge for takeout (I'm Punjabi, and most of our family/friends get party food catered from here)
Woodlands in Chatsworth for South Indian (vegetarian only)
India Sweets and Spices on Topanga/Sherman Way for fast food type food -- we eat here when we're in the mood for chana bhatura or bhel puri.

        Gangadin in Studio City

        Clay Oven in Sherman oaks

        Woodlands in Chatsworth

These are the top three, in my mind.

I'll second Woodlands in Chatsworth. Probably the best Indian food I've found in SFV so far.

This previous tread covers mostly the west side of LA:

If you meant the "west valley" and not west LA my apologies in advance.
