Great sopapillas near Academy Rd NE? (New Mexico)
I can't vouch for any one sopaipilla over another (it seems like they vary based on the skill of the maker more than anything else - from cook to cook and day to day in the same restaurant, they vary as much as they do from restaurant to restaurant), but I can tell you that there is a Garduño's (perfectly acceptable sopaipillas) on Academy just E of San Mateo and a Monroe's a block south of that on Osuna - both of these will have sopaipillas.
BTW, here in NM you won't find real honey on the table in a squeeze bottle at a restaurant - just honey-flavored corn syrup (some sort of regulation). Enjoy. :-P
