I had a really terrific meal tonight. It is hard to believe I have lived down the street from this gem for over a year and never tried it. Meanwhile, I have splurged on several Italian meals in my neighborhood and tried Vicenti and Toscana, both with quite the sticker shock and not so qutie the palate value.
How did I overlook Pecorino? We started with the most delicious appetizer antipasti plate of Burrato, proscuitto, red pepper. The bread was outstanding...warm, peasant Italian bread, delicious olive oil and a terrific, inexpensive chianti.
My friend and I both ordered a pasta dish for our entree. I had l'ammatriciana (tomato, bacon, onion) with a buccatino cooked so perfectly al dente!!!! My friend had the eggplant and ricootta ravioli in a fresh cherry tomato sauce seasoned with something I could only describe as a christmas tree. It was an evergreen flavor, so distinct and yet so refreshing.
The food is not cheap, but for the authentic italian flavors and wonderful ambience, it was not over priced. Pastas from 10-18 dollars. So romantic, too! I'll be back to try some secundo piati and contorni and round out the experience.
