Buenos Aires - Social Paraiso

I ended up going here my last night in BsAs, thanks to babaz' rec (thanks babaz!) - I wish I had taken better notes - I thought I was going to post earlier than I did, and was counting on my memory - I remember appreciating the cozy, un-sceney environment, and that the pork and beef entrees were excellent, the squid (or was it octopus?) stew less so. We enjoyed the signature dessert of apple crisps with Szechuan peppercorn ice cream (although, while I love the flavor of Szechuan peppercorns, they do have a grittiness that's distracting in a creamy dessert).

We had a nice lunch there last July. Recommend.

I second that. We had a truly wonderful, non-pretentious meal there. A great find.

This is also somewhere I reccomend to those coming to BA. It is still affordable enough for actual Portenos to go to, the staff is wonderful and not anti-tourist or snooty while still being cool. The food is consistent- a rarity in the BA scene where the quality of most places fluctuates.
