Danny Meyer (Union Square Hospitality Group) does tend to close his restaurants on major holidays. They would be the following: Union Square Cafe, Eleven Madison Park, Gramercy Tavern, The Modern, Tabla, and Blue Smoke. Also, a few of the more upscale restaurants may be closed. However, most restaurants are open. In fact, it is often easier to get reservations because many natives go away for the weekend.
