Shake Shack or Rare Bar and Grill?

I want to try both of them and will be in the city next week. Both are on the way to where I will be going so which should I try first? I know everyone loves Shake Shack but the lines are ridiculous. And Rare has this tbone burger that sounds incredibly awesome. Let me know kidds

  1. If you can get to Shake Shack just before it opens at 11 a.m., there will probably not be much of a line.

    1. Shake Shack is so much fun and very good, but yes, the lines can be really long. If you go to Rare, which is also good, you might be able to sit on the rooftop deck.

I think the burgers at Rare are the best in the city and I can't say the same about the ones at Shake Shack.

      2. Shake Shack experience is what it is all about. The burger is good... just good. There are other, better burgers in NYC.

For the price and bang for your buck, wait, taste, etc. which is better overall? If you go to Shake Shack you have to figure youre gunna get fries and a shake. Thats gunna run me about 13 bucks. Rare would run me about 21. I dont really care about price but I want to get the better burger and try to avoid waiting in line for an hour.

I don't think Rare is very good. It is decent but much too expensive for what it is and using a tbone to make a burger seems like a waste of money for me. First off I wouldn't want a tenderloin as part of a burger and wouldn't want to pay for it.

I personally love Shake Shack but wouldn't wait for an hour on line to get it so I don't eat it as often as I'd like to.

It is actually sirloin and NY strip no tenderloin. I don't know why they call it t-bone but thats what its made outta.

ive always been a big fan of Rare, especially the one on Lex. I go to SS but not as often. Went on Easter Sunday no line. But i have waited nearly an hour other times
and i see myself doing that less often. The burger is good but for some reason tastes really salty. I really like Brgr on 7th avenue, great onion rings too. Lastly, really enjoy Westville too on Avenue A, close to home too.

I've never been to Shake Shack, but I thought that Rare was SO overrated and overpriced for what it was. I would definitely skip it.

          2. i am not sure if you are still in the city - but please go to shake shack! it's worth the wait. go around 4 or 5, and you should be golden. well, golden is about a half hour wait, mind you. i am going today. i have heard that you can have the shroom burger on top of a single shackburger and i must try this combination!

personally, i thought the burger at rare was not very good at all. it was just a lot of meat, and dry meat at that. even topped with a million fattening and delicious add-ons, it was not a good burger. but you should definitely have a drink at the bar on rare's roof, it's really lovely.
