Discount Dim Sum?
Does anyone know of any place that offers discount on dim sum? For example, at Empress Harbor, if you get your check before 12 noon, you get a 20% discount. At Capital Seafood (according to my mother), you need to get the check before 1130 AM or after 4 PM. Of course, they might just run out of your favorite dim sum by then. Any others?

what about that old school place on Garfield and Emerson? It's been there forever yet I've never tried it. It may just be a takeout place, and not so much discounted. When I'm going through Chinatown in the morning, I sometimes I pick up dim sum at the ABC Seafood Restaurant - it's so so. I usually just buy a ham sui gok (fried footballs) and hot dog/ham buns. Under $1.50 for both.

Top Island on Valley (in the Big5 shopping center) does something like what your mom says about Capital Seafood, but the food is so wretched there that they would have to pay ME to eat there.

Ipse - you saved me by steering me away from Top Island. I went to Capital instead and wow, was that food tasty. The chinese chives (jou tsai) were top notch. I only had 2 of the jou tsai dumplings, but they actually had 3 kinds that day - jou tsai with shrimp, lightly pan fried jou tsai dumplings, and steamed jou tsai dumplings. I will definitely be back.
