  1. I'm not sure, but maybe the famous but no-frills atmopshere Sushi of Gari on the UES?

    1. Blue Hill (see my earlyer report on my solo dining experaince there).

      1. So, on Maxine's suggestion, I went to Blue Hill. It was PERFECT. Sat at the bar. Except for one dish, everything was outstanding and an ideal spot for a solo dinner. Any suggestions for where to go tonight....solo, yet again...

Beacon -- 25 West 56th Street. The bar is a lively place, the wines by the glass are terrific, and I love Waldy's food. You can get as much or as little as you want!

            Hey Chef June,

Thanks for the tip on Beacon. I was actually there not too long ago with a group of college friends. I'm actually looking for more of a seasonal tasting menu. Something very greenmarket driven. Sorry I didn't clarify earlier....any other ideas? My belly thanks you! :)

            Try P*ONG on w 10th and waverly.
great $59 tasting.... 5 savory, 3 sweet and all very clean well balanced and beautifully presented. And go now before the crowd becomes even more annoyingly sex & the city.

Yay. I'm glad you liked it! I had a nice experiance at the bar at Cru, though I did not opt for the tasting menu that night.

I'd suggest Hearth. Very good food, first-rate service, and casual, pleasant ambiance. There is a seasonally-driven tasting menu + wine pairings. With any luck, you might be able to snag one of the 4 seats at The Pass, where you can interact with the chefs as they prepare your food. But even it that's not possible, there is also bar seating.
