I'll be spending 9 days, 8 nights in BA for my honeymoon. We are definitely looking to spend some time enjoying good food. What I'm looking for are exceptional dining experiences of any sort (casual, hip, roadside, pricey...whatever). Basically, I want to know what I can't miss. We've read quite a bit about La Cabrera, La Bourougne, and Gran Bar Danzon. I'm looking to fill in some blanks, and hoping not to waste any meals.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. We're spending 4 nights in the Recoleta then 4 in Palermo, but we definitely don't mind straying from those 'hoods.

La Cabrera definitely, though a bit pricey. La Bourgogne if you want good French food at an astronomical price, but is that what you're coming to Buenos Aires for? And if so, I'd recommend somewhere like Maat, where you'll have an even more special experience. Gran Bar Danzon - for drinks and wine, yes; for food, not worth it. Others... Almanza, Urondo both for creative Argentine cuisine. For really good parrilla at good prices - El Trapiche or Don Julio. On the cheap and cheerful side Don Carlos, Almacen Secreto, Rodi Bar come to mind. Pretty much all of the above reviewed on my site at saltshaker.net

And keep in mind in terms of straying from the 'hoods - Buenos Aires is not a huge city - you can get around by public transit or cab to almost anywhere in 15 minutes or less, unless you're really headed for the far reaches. Palermo and Recoleta are walking distance - depending on which hotels you could be only a few minutes apart from each other.

If you want Italian (Italy is a huge influence in porteno culture since a large population of the city is Italian), try Bella Italia- it is wonderful. For lunch, there is a fun little vegetarian place called Krishna in palermo that serves Indian influenced food in a really cool, relaxed environment. Another nice lunch spot in palermo is called Bio, also vegetarian (i am not one but after all the steak/pasta/pizza it is a nice switch up)- a little more upscale than Krishna.
* an important thing to remember in Buenos Aires is that most restaurants don't really fill up for dinner until around 9:30. To get the full BA experience, I wouldn't make a reservation before 9, and even later on weekends. It's not uncommon for people to still be eating dinner out around 1:30 am, since nightclubs don't even open until 2 am.

Do not miss Casa Cruz in Palermo. I just returned from 8 days there and nothing else came close. Sucre is overated for food. The atmosphere is very hip and cool but the food is only average and the waiters have attitude.
For a great steak on the cheap side go to El Palacio de La Papa Frita. It doesn't look like much but the food is very good.
We didn't make it there but were told by several people that the Italian restaurant under the bridge by the Parker Hyatt was great. I don't remember the name.
The highlight though was Casa Cruz - from the wine to the dessert, the service and the food was amazing.
Congrats and enjoy!!

Buenos Aires has great food. We had delicious meals at La Bourgogne, Piegari, Cabana las Lilas and Sucre. I didn't love the food and service at Casa Cruz, but it's beautiful inside. Milion resaturant/club and the Faena hotel/resort are both cool for drinks and appetizers. Everything is a bargain by US standards, and portions tend to be big--ask when you order if you should share.

My wife and I took a three week honeymoon in Argentina two years ago and are considering going back this December. There are many great recs already listed here. However, if I had to single out one steak house in BA I would suggest La Brigada, 465 Estados Unidos, in San Telmo, not too far from the metro stop. The food was to die for the service was outstanding, one of, if not the best meal I had in Argentina if not worldwide.
