Good tom kha in SF or peninsula

Atomica May 17, 2007 01:39 PM

Which Thai restaurants in SF or peninsula make really good tom kha? Have tried:

--Osha: Way too thick and cloying
--Pad Thai (on Mission): Boring and not complex at all
--Dusit Thai: An okay version, but I don't like the addition of cabbage
--Thai Stick, Millbrae: Pretty good

this is the soup, right? Thai Time on 7th and Clement's is good. This is the only place we get Thai delivery and theirs is really good and not too sweet (for my taste anyhow). It is complex and a little spicy and the only thing I don't like in it are the button mushrooms, but that's just me. There's always cilantro and lime in this version which balances the sweet nicely.

Oddly, I didn't like it at Ozone (which I think shares something or other with Osha), but I can't remember what I didn't like about it. It wasn't cloying, that is for sure, but it wasn't good. People on this board suggest many of the Osha's are different. With anything Thai, I'd try Thai House Express (Geary and Larkin, Tenderloin).
