[Metro West & Metro North West] Where are your favorite Fried Clams?

Boston that is. I need your recommendations. Also please note if you know they also carry strips. Thanks.

  1. I never look for strips.
My favs in no particular order are:
    Tasty treat, Ashland
    Kelly's, Fram/Natick
    Ronnie's, Auburn
    Boo-hoo(RIP) Hudson Bar Lunch
Harry's, had good ones previously. Last time way too overbreaded.

If price is no object and you dont mind paying $32-35? for a large al a carte order of clams that you eat in your car then there is dairy joy too.

You can add Riley's Roast Beef, in Framingham, to that list. Occasionally they fall down a little but more often than not their full-belly clams, scallops & shrimp are surprisingly good.

Thanks folks! Yeah, I live in Hudson so I could pay $30 something for clams at Dairy Joy but I'm not going to. :-)

Last night I ordered take out--the $7 clam strips at Quarterdecks in Maynard--but I got the real "Fried Clams" instead. It was my first time eating the real thing and it was a bit different. I won't waste your time going into detail with a first hand account (you all eat Fried Clams...).

I'll probably try some of the recommendations so again, thank you.

Did you try Picadilly pub? They have both whole clams and strips. I have not had either. Used to be able to get a decent fish and chips there but i have not tried it in years

I have had the fried calms at the pic. Surprisingly good.

I've had them there too. No complaints.

Thanks. My wife if from F-ham a long time ago and we are fried clam fiends. Any other good cheap eats in the area? We have become George's Coney Island hot dog affecianados we we drive through Wooster.

I went to Harry's last night around 7:30. The place was packed--just one table and some counter seats open. Cool little place! I was optimistic. I ordered clam strips w/onion rings and my friend ordered fried calamari and fries. After an extended wait for the food, the waitress finally came around and brough it to us. Her calamari was a nice brown color with some seasoning, but my strips were very pale and fairly tasteless. When we were finished eating, I asked for the check and learned it was cash only. I hadn't noticed the cash only sign on the way in. My friend decided she wanted a piece of pie to go, because it was freezing where we were sitting. I approached the waitress as she was ringing me up with the pie request. She seemed annoyed and said she'd have to give me a separate check.

So that was it. I wonder if I should go back sometime and try the strips again.

I got some tonight at Jackie's Dairy Bar in Leominster. I had never been there before. Giant portion for $10.90 w/ fries and slaw. Tasty
