Armenian String Cheese, the big mystery

idia May 17, 2007 11:03 AM

Don't laugh.
In my area of the Upper West Side I am having a tough time finding the original Sun Ni Armenian string cheese -- the kind that is shaped like a figure 8.
Supermarkets like Fairway and specialty shops like Balducci's do not carry it.
Can anyone help me?

Try the Amish Market on 9th Ave between 49th and 50th. I see it there every time I go.

the deli on the corner of 2nd avenue and 9th street always stocked it, although i haven't looked for it there recently.

I can, but you'd have to travel an awful lot out of Manhattan. Basically any Russian food store in my area of Brooklyn has it. I guess you might as well go to Brighton Beach and make an "ethnic" (whatever that means) trip out of it.

or if you don't want to travel that deep into brooklyn, you can always hit Sahadi's...strangely i just got bought some string cheese at the fairway in brooklyn, even though i usually get it at Sahadi's...
