Recommendation for La Serenata de Garibaldi

  • 9

Going to the East LA location today for lunch. What is recommended? Should I get something off the specials menu?

  1. It's all good! Wicked Fresh Fish Specials , Fabulous Chile Relleno's, great desserts.

i can't attest to any of the meat dishes because i don't eat it...but all their seafood is fabulous!

    2. Unfortunately, I find nothing all that noteworthy there.

The salsa is ok, but nothing else really piqued my interest.

      1. I had snapper in huitlacoche sauce that knocked my socks off.

Order wine or beer -- they don't have a full liquor license so the "margaritas" are made with soju or sake.

        1. Everyone seems to rave about this place, but I thought the food was barely decent. I ordered a fish with some type of parsley sauce that was so salty as to be inedible. SO ordered a pork dish that was equally over-salted. Chips and salsa were ok.

I had the giant shrimp (5) with garlic sauce. My friends had taquitos and had to order guacamole and sour cream ala carte since it didn't come with it. Food was average and not work the money. Although I did like the heat of the hot sauce on the table and the fresh tortillas.

As I noted above, I've never really understood the fascination with this place.

To me LSdG is really just like Alcapulco with about a 15% premium on the prices with no corresponding increase in the quality of food.

In the future, I'll go to La Parilla if I'm picking up the tab.

          2. The best things I've had there were the coconut flan and watermelon juice.
