Looking for a good corn dog

Have an odd craving, but am looking for a good corn dog. Anybody come across anything tasty. Maybe it's the thought of summer coming on: sun, surf, boardwalks, corn dogs, etc.

  1. I seem to recall that Clare and Don's, late of the Clarendon area and now on Lee Hwy in Falls Church offers them. I've never been so can't confirm.

It's not an odd craving. I usually have a box or two of the frozen ones from HT stashed away for emergencies.

    Cocinero Cubano

    1. they make fresh corn dogs at the m'dawg haute dawgs place (*shivers*) in adams morgan. my friend says they're good.

Is that a good shiver or a bad shiver?

bad. and i wanted to like them so much. i was really excited when they opened because i love hot dogs, and have thought about opening a similar type of place. but the dogs are awful, can get similar quality at 7-11 for 1/4 the price (or less) and the toppings are not so great either.

now galaxy hut in arlington, or bens on U, or hard times. now those are some chili dogs.

      2. Tallula in Arlington used to have an awesome corndog as a quick appetizer, haven't been there in a little while though.

Yes, they're made with chorizo - quite good. You get five or six with the order, I think.

The Hooters chain has an excellent corn dog on the children's menu (yes, it was really family-oriented on Saturday afternoon in Rockville).

        2. Do they have them at Ben's Chilli Bowl? I haven't been in about 2 years but it seems like something they might have. Mmmmmm now you've got be wanting a corn dog!!!!

Thanks for the replies. Some good leads. Will report back if I'm able to make it to some of these places. Been to Ben's lots, but never noticed the corn dog there. Course, that's b/c I went straight for the chili dog.

I'm not 100% sure that they actually have one...I just thought if anywhere in the area might, it might be Ben's.
