West Valley BBQ

I am looking for a bbq restaurant in the west valley (we're new here) that not only has good ribs but has good sides such as hushpuppies, mac and cheese, fried okra, corn on the cob... Also looking for someplace with pulled pork.

  1. Two places immediately come to mind: Les Sisters far east on Devonshire in Chatsworth (if you hit Topanga Cyn, you've gone too far). Awesome New Orleans bbq, fabulous baked beans, black eyed peas, hush puppies, etc. Love the big Mason jars of unsweetened lemonade. My mom swears by the spicy fried chicken, but I'm happy with the sides.
    Also, Dr. Hoggly Woggly's Tyler Texas Bbq on Sepulveda in Van Nuys. The sauce is incredible, poured on top of just about any kind of meat (I usually go for melt off the bone ribs or tender brisket).
    I don't live in LA anymore, but every time I go home to visit, I pay both of these places an overdue visit.

      1. Granda Fred's is pretty down home and I think you might like their sides. The place can be distracting sometimes as it can be like going over to somebody's house for dinner; the person taking orders might be going into long conversations with the party ahead of you while you want to order and eat; friends of the staff might be hanging out and talking really loudly, and I promise a big screen TV will be blasting loudly. Last time I was there they were watching a horror film with loud screaming with a running commentary from the friends hanging out all through my meal. Good BBQ though... if you don't mind the commotion.
