Tacos por Favor!!

  • 9

I finally tried it after reading about it here and driving by it for years. My husband and I each ordered a chorizo and cheese taco, a carnitas taco, and an al pastor taco. The carnitas and al pastor had great flavor but the meat on both was dry. The chorizo and cheese taco was @#($&%)#(! amazing . . . I can't stop thinking about it. Although I'd be happy just ordering chorizo and cheese tacos I'm wondering what else I should try. By the way, Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson were ordering as we were leaving.

  1. TPF is, to me, a great neighborhood place but not a drive across town destination.

If you live in or near Samo, it's cool. If you drive over from Pasadena, you'll be wondering what the fuss is all about.

I happen to live, work and play in and around Samo. So, I go there quite a bit.

    1. i love tacos por favor but it really is only because its so close! i love love there chicken soup as well as the pozole.

Never had their chicken soup, will have to give it a try. Is it as great as Monte Alban's chicken soup though?

        1. some other blogger happened to be shooting a photo of her mozza meal, and there in the background, is wilson and hudson. anyway, i love their chorizo/cheese taco. it's so juicy!

          1. I think the chorizo and cheese tacos, are all that you should get. Most everything else I've had there has been subpar to slightly above average. Although I hear they have a good breakfast burrito - haven't had it though.

As with any place, your mileage may vary, but I have to disagree with your take.

There are places I like better -- I've already noted that it's a neighborhood place that I only go to when I'm in the neighborhood -- but the food hear is definitely above average in my opinion.

I've never even ordered the chorizo and cheese tacos.

I did eat a breakfast burrito there the other day and liked it just fine.

            2. Besides the outstanding Chorizo & Cheese tacos, Tacos Por Favor has some of the best mole I've ever had, period. You can either get the chicken mole plate or the burrito. Either way you can't go wrong. The carne asada & pastor are both good, but not great. The salsa roja is superb.

              Hope that helps!

I like to pay 50 cents extra and have them put mole in my chorizo and cheese burrito. Oh, the happyness!
