Tacos por Favor!!
I finally tried it after reading about it here and driving by it for years. My husband and I each ordered a chorizo and cheese taco, a carnitas taco, and an al pastor taco. The carnitas and al pastor had great flavor but the meat on both was dry. The chorizo and cheese taco was @#($&%)#(! amazing . . . I can't stop thinking about it. Although I'd be happy just ordering chorizo and cheese tacos I'm wondering what else I should try. By the way, Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson were ordering as we were leaving.

Besides the outstanding Chorizo & Cheese tacos, Tacos Por Favor has some of the best mole I've ever had, period. You can either get the chicken mole plate or the burrito. Either way you can't go wrong. The carne asada & pastor are both good, but not great. The salsa roja is superb.
Hope that helps!

As with any place, your mileage may vary, but I have to disagree with your take.
There are places I like better -- I've already noted that it's a neighborhood place that I only go to when I'm in the neighborhood -- but the food hear is definitely above average in my opinion.
I've never even ordered the chorizo and cheese tacos.
I did eat a breakfast burrito there the other day and liked it just fine.

TPF is, to me, a great neighborhood place but not a drive across town destination.
If you live in or near Samo, it's cool. If you drive over from Pasadena, you'll be wondering what the fuss is all about.
I happen to live, work and play in and around Samo. So, I go there quite a bit.
