Alfredo's
www.alfredospizzaandpasta.com/.
casual but really good american italian. The neighborhood is kinda shady but Alfredo's is where all the local law enforcement meet for food. We used to go there all the time when I was at school at Loma Linda. One time we went there and I think we were one of the only ones that wasn't law enforcement packing heat.Hospitality Lane has a gaggle of chains and they are not great. Redlands has cute restaurants and if want really special "expensive" birthday dinner then mission inn or mario's will be perfect

A little off the subject, but if they feel like wandering around I would let them know to stay in the Hospitality Lane area or head to Riverside or Redlands rather than heading north into San Bernardino after dark. Hospitality Lane is OK but areas North of there have very high crime rates.

where in SB...are you too far from downtown Riverside??? I would suggest Mission Inn or Mario's.

Hospitality is lined with chain restaurants..well last time I was there. If they want something nicer than a 15 min drive to Riverside would be worth it. The Mission inn is quite a cool hotel to walk around in and the area around it is pedestrian friendly. There is a steakhouse inside called Duane's and it is really good but $$. Mario's is within walking distance..across the street and it serves Northern Italian fare.

Great...my other suggestion was to look in Redlands but I have only eaten at casual places there. I think they will love the Mission Inn... tell them to go early to walk around and have a cocktail or two in the bar. My husband and I had our first date there 12.5 years ago...ahhhh.
