Good Asian Market near FiDi??

Hi, I'm new!

I love the May Wah Market at Clement and 8th in the Richmond. I'm sure there is nothing as big near FiDi, but is there anything good enough to make a trip to on a lunch hour either in Chinatown or closer to 2nd & Market?

I'm looking for Vietnamese ingredients for the most part.

I don't know the names of any of the markets I go to, but at the Clay/Stockton corner there are a couple of small grocery stores that generally have a variety of Asian ingredients. However, for produce I will usually go to the Tuesday Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market since my office is right across the street. Several of the vendors there have very good Asian herbs vegetables including Chue's. But I think the Wednesday market at Civic Center has good choices and much better prices, if that's closer for you than the FP.

Lien Hing market is Chinese but has some Vietnamese items, such as condensed milk and fish sauce. It's on the east side of Stockton just north of Jackson.

If it's produce you're after, you might try the Civic Center farmers' market on Wednesdays. There's a stand at the western edge of the market that has rau ram and other Vietnamese herbs.

Are there particular ingredients you're looking for?

No particular ingredients, just looking for a place to go if I need to pick up an ingredient I don't have before heading home from work. Also, would like a place to browse during my lunch break -- to give me ideas, or just be overwhelmed.

In terms of asian vegetables, and even many herbs, I agree that the Civic Center Wednesday Farmer's Market is pretty great.
