Need Rehearsal Dinner Venue for Large Group (70-150 People)

We are looking for suggestions for places to host a Friday night wedding rehearsal dinner for a group that could be anywhere in size from 70 to 150 people. We are completely open to suggestions. We would consider anything from a fancy restaurant to doing something NY kitschy like taking over a Lombari’s/Grimaldi’s.

I don’t know if there are private rooms that will be able to accommodate such large groups, but if you have any ideas or first hand experience, I would love to hear about it. Also, if we end up needing to buy-out a restaurant for a night, does anybody have any information on how this works and what type of pricing we should expect? Any recommendations for buy-out places that would be able to accommodate our group in one room would also be greatly appreciated. Additionally, we are not limiting ourselves to only Manhattan, so as long as the place is easy to get to we would consider places in Brooklyn and Queens. Thanks in advance.

      1. Acc. to their website, Eleven Madison Park's restaurant space seats 150. (Their private rooms are too small for your purposes.) I recall reading a post on this board from someone who said a family member bought out the restaurant for a private function.

Astra, on the 14th floor of the D& D Bldg., is a cafe during the day, but becomes a space for private functions at night. Gorgeous views and an outdoor terrace. I've been there for lunch. Chef Charlie Palmer does the food.

Could you please tell me more about the Landmarc TWC space? We like the original Landmarc and would be interested in hearing more about the new one and your experience with their private rooms.

        2. the restaurant in bryant park hosted mine which was around 100 people. they blocked off part of the main dining room and because the weather was nice we were able to have drinks outside in a closed off area. honestly, food was just OK, but they were very accomodating and pricing was not outrageous if i remember correctly.
