Bodega Tofu recipe? [moved from Manhattan board]
Good day. Would anyone happen to know the exact recipe for the sauce used in the Tofu dish used by most NYC Bodegas? They are triangles of tofu marinating in a sauce. I'm sure it has soy sauce, sesame seeds and spring onion greens, but it seems to have something else to it as well and I'd love to replicate it at home.
If it's based on Asian sauces, it may have any or all of the following added to what you list:
Rice wine vinegar
Pure sesame oil from toasted/roasted sesame seeds
sugar or corn syrup
Here's a recipe for a fairly standard slightly spicy Korean sauce.
2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 teaspoon chopped scallion, spring, or green onion
1 teaspoon roasted sesame seed oil
1 teaspoon coarse ground chili powder
1 teaspoon sugar
sprinkle of toasted sesame seed
