Went out for a nice Mother's Day dinner last night at a restaurant we have been wanting to try for a while. The food/wine/service was great! It not only met our expectations, but greatly exceeded them, especially for Mother's Day. After overinduldging with apptiz, salad, pasta...the "main course" came and we were all stuffed! We (3 adults, 2 children) asked for some of our dinner plates to be wrapped. This morning I noticed they didn't give us one meal, which the leftovers consisted of a huge lamb loin chop, mashed potatos and broccoli rabe. What would you do? Would you call and comment or just let it go? My husband said don't worry about it, but the meal cost over $30 and half was left on the plate...

First, I would assume it was an honest mistake since I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt and mother's day is one of the busiest days of the year. Then I'd probably let it go, but that doesn't mean you should.

if you are/were looking forward to finishing it and you really will eat it, then call the restaurant and explain what happened. In most cases the restaurant will offer to make you a new meal and you could go there and collect it. I've seen it happen before, and if I were managing and someone called and explained the situation, i'd do the same. (Though remember that they may not be able to make it until around when dinner service begins since they might not have everything prepped until then.)

Let it go. Mother's Day is possibly the busiest restaurant day of the year. It was a mistake.

I'm with Celeste on this one; let it go. Chances are it got boxed or wrapped up and just didn't make it back out to you or into the bag with the rest of it.

mom2, I agree with nc213's paragraph 2--especially since it was Mother's Day and you, I take it, are the mom (or at least one of them)! Give em a call. Sure they would be happy to rectify their innocent mistake.

this happened to us today too, a customer called to say that they got all the doggie bags from last night except for her penne vodka (half eaten). She made the biggest fuss about it. I have just sold my restaurant so the new owner asked me what I would do. I said I would comp her dessert next time and to tell her that on the phone. Well this didn't satisfy her but a $10 check would.
I found this to be quite incredible but what can you do. Some people are never satisfied. This was half a pasta dish, it would have been a genuine error on a busy day.
