Why Did I Lose My Message?

BrookBoy May 13, 2007 05:42 AM

I opened Chowhound this morning, saw the "Hey, Brookboy" hello in the upper right corner, and then spent about half an hour composing a message about my meal yesterday at Peter Luger's. When I clicked the Post My Reply button, I went to the sign-in page. I signed in, whereupon I was presented with a blank message screen.

I have to say, this really ticked me off. Why did it happen, and how do I prevent it from happening again?

Sorry for the difficulties--that's always very frustrating when stuff like that happens.

Usually log out issues are a cookie problem--possibly on your end, possibly on ours. Unfortunately, it's pretty difficult to diagnose the problem any more concretely than that.

The best way to prevent problems like that in the future is to compose long posts in a text editor or other program on your computer, so that if you get logged out or lose your connection, you won't lose your text as well. In some browsers, you may be able to go 'back' to the page you were on previously and still find your text, as well, so it's always worth checking before you give up if you do lose some text.
