What's your latest food project? Get great advice

Somewhere between Woodstock and Manchester, Vt.

We like to meet friends each year for lunch. They are "up" and we are "down."
The only place that seems to be in the middle between the two areas is the Mountaintop Inn.
So any creative minds out there for a charming lunch with decent food?
There MUST be something in the middle worth going to.

Somewhat closer to Woodstock is Harry's Cafe on Rte.103 in Mount Holly.
It's about 5 miles north of Okemo.
Opening at 5pm, this semi-hidden jewel is well worth consideration.

OMG I would definitely second Harry's Cafe in Mt. Holly (as well as Little Harry's in Rutland on West St., I believe). We've been going there for years - absolutely great food...although as was mentioned they are not open for lunch.

Unfortunately, the only thing we can do is lunch.
It seems surprising that in all of that long expanse of driving, there is nothing at all charming, soup, salad and sandwichy for lunch.

Is Brandon too out of the way? Cafe Provence is excellent.

I looked at the menu from Cafe Provence and it certainly fills the bill.
We used to meet in Killington which was about an hour and a half between us so I guess we could add 15 more minutes.
(Someone also said that Rutland might also be a good alternative.)
            Thank you for your suggestion.
It might just fill the bill.
