Need Recs

edkar May 11, 2007 11:00 PM

My wife and I are spending Memorial Day weekend in Manhattan. We like some recs on places to eat. We've done the delis and Pizza joints as well as Babbo and Mesa Grill. Anything new?? Thanks in advance.

    Hi edkar,

It will help if you specify budget, location, and cuisine preferences so that we can narrow down the choices. I have noted in your other posting regarding the bone marrow dish - Crispo, Blue Ribbon, and Landmarc all serve a bone marrow dish.

If you like Italian and want to try something other than Batali's, Crispo is an excellent choice with unpretentious decor and delicious food. Landmarc has excellent brunch and is overall a very solid place with great food and wine, and they just opened up a new location in Time Warner Center which is bigger and with excellent view. Their dessert sampler is a great way to round up a meal! Both Crispo and Landmarc are very reasonably priced.

I am a big fan of Eleven Madison Park for contemporary French cooking. You will not be disappointed.

If you can post your preferences, then we can come up with more suggestions!

      Hi Kobetobiko,

We don't have a specific budget but the wife loves italian. We'll be staying at the Park Central close to our beloved delis!! Thanks for your suggestions, we greatly appreciate it.

Il gattopardo is close to your hotel and is excellent.

i think bellavitae is a wonderful choice for italian. been referenced as the alternative to batali's babbo if you can't get in. i found the veal and tuna sauce as memorable... i also loved sitting at the chef's prep area in the back. a lot of fun.... also the restaurtant is situated on a great block called minetta lane. you'll see why if you go..

          italian i also love

          the orchard
