Ah, now you've done it...I try and eat here only once a year, because I absolutely only want the fried stuff! My husband and I like the combo where you get fish, shrimp and clams and then he substitutes extra fries for his coleslaw and I substitute extra hushpuppies for my fries. (no charge!).

Ahoy, Captain! when I'm in the mood for fried fish.
Really I eat the fish so I can load it down with malt vinegar. Don't care for the fries or the slaw!

They still have such great prices, but I haven't been in over a decade.

IMO it is very good. I frequent two different locations and they both sell A&W Root Beer. I really wish they would cut one piece of that fish in half and make two great Fish Tacos with it. Just put it in two Corn tortillas topped with cabbage and a little tomato, onion, and white sour cream sauce -- Long Juan Silvers Fish Tacos. I would be first in line.

I wish there was one closer - nearest one is 10 miles away from my house. I started to get cravings for it after seeing that video on YouTube of Alexyss Tylor who references LJS in talking about men playing women:

I like the capitan better too, The country style is great and they have baked taters instead of fries! But the newer LJ's have A&W's draft root beer in frozen mugs!

I agree that their cole slaw is very good. Do they chop that up and make it fresh at each store?

Isn't LJS owned by the franchise that ownes kfc? Same coleslaw.

LJS is a very recent acquisition by Yum Brands, and I doubt that they would have changed it

I am a Tricon/Yum shareholder and LJS is the only franchise that I will consider eating at. The American Midwest is not known for great seafood, but LJS is dependable and reasonably priced fish that isn't full of HFCS and unnecessary fats.

I would like to see them offer more grilled and baked items on the menu but most people who eat fast food don't seem to care.

I tend to eat there maybe once every month or so.

Problem: the grilled and baked at LJS are, IMO, yucky. The fried is a diet disaster, but when I abandon caution and want fried fish LJS is good, fresh, hot, tasty.

Wish they still had oysters - they did here for a while, and their fried oysters were really good, but they don't anymore.

Wayne , I agree 100%. grilled and baked seafood is very difficult to reliably produce well, especially at the low price point of a franchise environment.

I usually stick with fried fish or occasionally the clams.

LJS used to have several baked fish options...perhaps they weren't very good overall, but they just didn't sell well. My grandfather and I used to go all the time because he could get baked fish, rice and a veggie and I could load up on fried fish, fries, hushpuppies and corn. I do like their clams, too...of course, i never met a fried clam I didn't like.

I used to eat the baked fish they had. It wasn't THAT bad. However, it could have definitely used some salt. There was only the taste of fish and the herbs that were on it. And, as I've noticed seems to be a trend, they went overkill on spiciness to try to make up for a lack of flavorful fats.

No. Yuck. Eew. Even the smell of the place grosses me out, and I'll eat fast food on occasion without complaint.

For me, the only thing better at LJS compared to Capt'n D's is the coleslaw. But I'll eat it!

I have to disagree...the chicken at LJS is wayyyy better.

                      I enjoy eating there.

                      Captain D's also.

I'd take Captain D's over LJ's -any- day! It's soo much tastier! (Of course, it's due to the fact I get the Captain maybe twice a year, when I go with with a friend to Nellis AFB here in Vegas..I wish they had places the public could eat, not just military!)
