Calgary summer restaurants?

alau2 May 11, 2007 03:59 PM

Now that the beautiful weather is here, what are some of your favourite restaurant patios in Calgary? I'm wondering about good patios with good food. Not just patios for drinking nice cold beer.

Amen! Some sparkling wine, watch the ducks float by.....back to the office after lunch? What office?

Ditto to that, too. and I remember trees around the patio to filter out the sun

        People watching from Brava Bistro.

Bonterra has one of the most underrated patios for dining. It's not a people watching spot because it's tucked in behind the restaurant but it's nice! The other spot I enjoy is the Living Room. Nice patio and good food.

Ureview- Living Room patio was torn up for what looked like rehabbing last time I walked by, do you know if it's done yet?

Another neat option to open soon- there is a tired Italian resto on 7th St sort of behind Safeway (at about 12th Ave) called, if memory serves, Michelangelo's. It's closed, and the spot- a big old house with a NICE BIG patio- is being taken by Laurier Lounge. I think the block laurier is in now is being torn down (since Purr moved out and that hair salon next to it too). Anyway, I think this is perfect for LL- bigger space, great patio, and it's nice to have some options OFF 17th but still in a nice space.

i'm very excited for them to finish - it's just around the corner from work and home!!!
too bad about the construction site view from the patio but that will be finished soon enough.

Just got back from Paris and haven't hit 17th yet. I emailed Cliff to ask him what's up but I couldn't see them being shut down for long given the short length of patio weather in Calgary these days! If hear back I'll post the reply. Cheers!

I like Cilantro's courtyard. it's a great place for lunch or an early dinner on a warm evening. it feels very intimate and private, despite it's location.

Of course, you can't beat The Ship's patio for people watching. The food is affordable, if not culinarily enlightening.

i also enjoy cilantro's courtyard - was there last week but sat upstairs at the table in the window, it was just as enjoyable as being outside and a great meal too.

for pub food and price point, the ship is pretty darn good.
