alternatives to No. 9 Park

We had a reservation for four, for tomorrow night (Saturday). No 9 Park called and said that they have building problems this weekend, are closed, and will attempt to make reservations on our behalf wherever we request. What do you suggest?

  1. Sorellina, Trouqet, Locke- Ober.

    1. We actually had reservations for tonight and had the same problem. We decided to go to L'espalier instead (primarily since none of the four of us had been there and we were in the mood for a splurge so I cannot yet tell you if it is a good choice or not). I would recommend Clio as an alternative based on my previous dining experience there. It was definitely among the top few meals I have had in the Boston area for food (the other actually being the vegetarian tasting menu at Oleana).

      1. If you want expensive tasting menu fare that's (at least in my experience) excellent, I'd recommend L'Espalier, Radius, Aujourd'hui, or Clio. Be prepared to break the bank, though.

I ate at Sorellina last weekend. It was a mind blower delicious incredible meal. The service was stellar and the food was beyond perfection. Started with a kobe meatball over homemade pasta appetizer. Then tuna tartare as another appetizer served in a dish that was resting on top of a crushed ice bowl. It was perfect, tender and delicate. For dinner I had the spaghetti with shrimp and pork cheeks. It was the most sensational pasta dish ever served to me. Our table got a side of the best french fries that had black truffle oil and grated fresh parmesan cheese. For dessert I had the frutta, it was sliced fresh golden sweet pineapple with a sugared candy crust, pinepple sorbet and a piece of paper thin dried pineapple. It was so refreshing after such a rich meal. Someone at my table got the cannolis and they were the most delicious ones I have ever tasted. I think they put candied citron in the filling. It was a very special dinner.

        2. How about Oleana? They'll probably be booked tight, but the No. 9 folks and Oleana folks are friendly w/each other, and may be able to work it out. At the very least, you're guaranteed a great meal, though perhaps you're looking for something fancier?

          1. We tried to grab a drink at #9 last night and apparently they had a small fire. I would say go to Clio instead, it's one of my favorite spots.

I'm sure it's too late now but I definitely agree with Sorellina as totally fabulous. That kobe meatball appetizer is out of this world.
