Dinner in Alameda Tonight (Santa Clara at Webster)

Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to eat dinner tonight in Alameda? I've only been to the island a handful of times and don't know the restaurants there at all. We'll be around Santa Clara Ave by Webster Street so somewhere close to that is good although other ideas are also welcome. One of us is vegetarian and although we want something a little nicer than just grabbing a slice or a burrito, we don't want fine dining. Maybe plates priced up to $15? A wine list would be great too. Thanks!

  1. There's an okay Japanese place right there--Katsu Sushi?

Oatez and East Ocean Seafood are a couple of blocks away.

Pappo is more than $15/plate, as well as being across town.

Too bad Acquacotta isn't open yet -- I think it would be just what you're looking for.

        2. Although Pappo is perfectly nice, that's more on the Park Street side of Alameda. Not sure if the New Zealander has many vegetarian options, but I like their meat pies. New Zealander is in the Croll's building at the corner of Central and Webster. A new Vietnamese place opened up on Webster called Cafe Le. Haven't tried it yet so no reports on whether it's good.
