Hadley in Orange County?

thedeputy May 11, 2007 11:13 AM

I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly but was/is there a Hadley fruit stand/market in the South Orange County area, maybe around San Clemente, off the 5. I know there's the one on the way out to the desert. I really could use one of their date-banana milkshakes.

Go to the Orange Inn in Laguna - they're better! Also, the old shake stand on PCH between Corona del Mar & Laguna is now a Rudy's & will make them on request, even tho not on menu.

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to check those places out, but was there ever a Hadley market in that area?

I think there used to be one in Carlsbad...I heard I is no longer there.

You might be thinking of the one in Carlsbad. It looked shuttered last time I was in that neighborhood. Both Carlsbad & the one in Cabazon are handled on the California board.

To keep this on topic, I will second the recommendation for the shake shack that torta recommends above. To correct her inadvertent typo, it's a Ruby's owned joint, not Rudy's.

The one in Carlsbad must be the one I'm thinking of. I even called Hadley's hotline to ask, the lady had no idea what I was talking about so I guess it's been a while.

Thanks for the recommendations. Also, Professor, I enjoy your blog.

It used to be Hadley's Fruits & Nuts
It's in Cabazon, CA right off the I-5 freeway.
They have built a big casino next to it & I have heard talk they may be closing the doors. Sure hope not! They have great date shakes!!! And Christmas gifts!!!!

I've been told there is a connection but I never checked it out. I figure they are busy enough & don't need more relatives poking around. haha
            Know what I mean?
But we always stop there when we are on our way back from AZ. Wouldn't miss it! :-)
